NOV-09 paper tower report

This is our paper tower and Patrick gave it a name as "Patrick's height"!!!!! yeahhhh

We made our paper tower into tetrahedral because triangle is the most stable shape we could make today. So basically we roll the newspaper into four sticks. Three of all four sticks creat a pyramid. The ends of the three sticks produce almost a right triangle. Triangle is stable enough to be a base for the entire paper tower. We use three whole pieces of newspaper to make the supporters because the base should be strong enough to support the tower. Furthermore, we try to make our paper tower as slim as possible. So we shrink the size of the base triangle. It works!!!

So the physics we used in this paper tower is, firtst, the vector. To make it straight up, we want the force to point straight up or down. The three supporters are like vectors. When they add together, they just form a vector points vertically. so the addition of every vectors in the paper tower should be zero otherwise the tower may not stand because the force makes the movement. Secondly, the physics stuff we used is the interacting forces. The supporters give force to the top of tower. The top of the tower has gravity. Those two kinds of force cancel out finally. The interacting forces will cancel out at last. And then we just get a standing paper tower.
